Q: How much do I apply?

A: The amount of nitrogen you apply to your lawn determines how much grass you will produce. If you want your tops to look dark green and you water frequently and you don’t recycle your clippings, we suggest you apply 1 kg bag for every 100 sq. m. or 1000 sq. ft. If you do mulch your clippings, we suggest you apply half of that amount, or one 9kg. bag for every 200 sq. m. or 2000 sq. ft.

Q: How does the fertilizer part work?

A: The corn gluten meal is a natural source of nitrogen. The rating is 10-0-0, which indicates that the nitrogen content is 10% by weight, and the phosphorus and potassium content is not significant. The nitrogen is slowly released over a period of about 40 days.

Q: How does the weed control work?

A: Amaizeingly Green contains natural organic di-peptides that act as germination inhibitors. Any seeds, including weeds, which come in contact with the material, will not germinate. This property of the corn gluten makes it a pre-emergent weed control.

    Q: What about established weeds?

A: Amaizeingly Green will not kill established weeds. You will have to pull them, or wait for the grass to choke them out. In the case of most weeds you can expect 80 to 85% control in the first year and 90% to 98% control in the second year. The toxic chemicals that were in use in the past were more effective at immediately killing the weeds.

Q: Do I have to post a warning if I apply Amaizeingly Green?

A: No, the product is not toxic at all and you can feel free to use your lawn immediately. There is nutritional value for birds and animals and they may feed on your fertilizer. The next rain will move it into the soil. Don’t be concerned if your pet samples it. In fact many dog foods have corn gluten meal as an ingredient.

Q: Do I only apply the Amaizeingly Green to my lawn?

A: You can apply it to your grass, to your flowerbeds and to your vegetable garden. Just make sure the plants are established before you apply it. The slow release nitrogen is ideal for feeding the plant and weed control comes with it.

Q: How often do I apply Amaizeinlgy Green and will it be available next year?

A: You can apply as often as you wish. We suggest you time the applications for weed control at the start of the season and the end of August when the second crop of weeds starts to show. We expect that Amaizeingly Green will be available on a permanent basis.

Q: How do I apply the Amaizeingly Green?

A: You can apply it with a spreader, just like other fertilizers.  You can apply rain or shine, it makes no difference when you apply, unless you have freshly seeded, if that is the case you should wait 20 days until the grass seed has germinated.

Q: Are there any negative side effects of using this Amaizeingly Green?

A: There are no side effects. You may get some birds and animals sampling the fertilizer as a food source.

Q: Where is Amaizeingly Green produced?

A: Collingwood Ethanol L.P. is located in Collingwood Ontario and produces the product as part of the Ethanol cycle. It is called a co-product of ethanol.

Q: Where does the corn come from that goes to the Ethanol plant in Collingwood?

A: The Collingwood plant buys corn from local producers and it has stimulated the agriculture sector in the area

Q: What will Rotary use the proceeds for?

A: All proceeds go into general revenue for the Collingwood SGB club. Current projects include Rotary House in Barrie at the RVH Cancer Center, Collingwood G&M Hospital foundation, and variety of children’s programs and poverty alleviation in Collingwood. Our International programs include a Back to School project in the Philippines and an orphanage in Kenya.

         Campaign?
